According to the new regulations of the Ministry of Information and Communications, individuals/businesses using international domain names (.com, .net, .org, .info, .shop,…) in Vietnam will need to notify domain name information. Delay in reporting or not reporting may be penalized according to the following provisions:
– A fine ranging from VND 5,000,000 to VND 10,000,000 shall be imposed for registering international domain names without complying with the regulations of the Ministry of Information and Communications; using international domain names without notifying or notifying missing or incorrect information or changing information without notifying the Ministry of Information and Communications (Details are specified in Article 41).
– A fine ranging from VND 5,000,000 to VND 10,000,000 shall be imposed for the following acts: An international domain name registrar in Vietnam do not guide organizations and individuals registering to use international domain names to notify the Ministry of Information and Communications of information in the network environment as prescribed; An international domain name registrar in Vietnam does not report the update of the list of international domain names under its management to the Ministry of Information and Communications through the network environment in accordance with regulations on management and use of resources. Internet; Providing international domain name registration services in Vietnam but not as an enterprise established under Vietnamese law (Details are specified in Article 42).
Thus, it is necessary to declare domain name information with the Ministry of Industry and Trade & Communications as well as to ensure compliance with the law.
