How to fix ‘syntax error: unexpected end of file’ error on DirectAdmin

by

Introduction

Today I encountered an error case on a customer’s VPS as follows, when I use any ./build command, I get a syntax error: unexpected end of the file. Research on the DirectAdmin forum shows that the build file causes this error at /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild/build of Directadmin with incorrect or missing characters, leading to the system reporting incorrect syntax and not executing the build command.

  • You can see the article in Forum DirectAdmin: Here .

In this article, I will show you how to fix it very simply. Please see the next step.

Handling Instructions

To fix this problem, you must download the build file from the Directadmin server and overwrite the build file in your VPS. To download, you just need to run the command below

AZDIGI Tutorial
wget -O /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild/build http://files1.directadmin.com/services/custombuild/2.0/custombuild/build

And here are my results. As you can see now, I can use the build command usually.

Wishing you success.
