In the “Building a website with AZDIGI” series, this article will guide you on how to register hosting and a domain name in the simplest way to prepare for website development. These two elements are essential and also decisive factors for your website’s brand.
1. Domain Name
A domain name, or commonly known as a domain, is the address used to access your website. For example, AZDIGI’s domain name is azdigi.com or www.azdigi.com. When users enter the domain name in the browser or search engine, the website’s content will be displayed.
1.1 Domain registration
If you do not know how to register a domain, you can refer to the instructions below:
After successfully registering the domain name, the next step is to point the domain to the hosting IP. At AZDIGI, there are 4 pairs of Name Server(NS) for you to use:
- 1st Name Server (NS) pair
ns1.azdigi.com
ns2.azdigi.comThis pair is used and becomes effective when your domain is registered and issued at AZDIGI.
- 2nd Name Server (NS) pair
ns3.azdigi.com
ns4.azdigi.comThis Name Server (NS) pair is used when your domain is registered at AZDIGI and another registrar. When using this Name Server (NS) pair, the DNS records are managed in the Zone Editor of cPanel and this Name Server (NS) pair is only valid when you use hosting, not available in VPS.
- 3rd Name Server (NS) pair
This Name Server (NS) pair is for the SEO Hosting service that AZDIGI is providing:
ns1-seohosting.azdigi.com
ns2-seohosting.azdigi.com- 4th Name Server (NS) pair
This Name Server (NS) pair is for the Reseller Hosting service:
ns1-rsh.azdigi.com
ns2-rsh.azdigi.com1.2 Create DNS pointing to IP
To create a DNS record, log in to the my.azdigi.com service administration page => select Domain => Manage DNS
Next, click Add DNS Zone to create a new zone for managing DNS records.
In the Add DNS Zone interface, enter the following information:
- DNS Zone Name: Enter your domain (excluding www, and accompanying HTTP, HTTPS protocols)
- IP Address: Enter the hosting server’s IP address. You will be given this IP address when you complete the Hosting service registration.
To access the DNS record management, you just need to click on the 🖍 icon.
In this DNS Zone management interface, there are 3 most commonly used operations:
- Add a new record
- Edit the record
- Remove records from Zone DNS
1.3 Check IP after pointing
There are many methods to check, however, you can use the method test online on 3rd party tools and computer devices.
1.3.1 Check with Online tool
Below are the 2 most popular DNS checking sites, you can check the pointed domain and synchronize the world DNS servers.
- https://dnschecker.org/
- https://www.dnswatch.info/
1.3.2 Check on the computer
The first command I used to check is dig
- Syntax: dig my-domain +short
For the second command, I use PING
- Syntax: ping my-domain
Here is my illustrative example:
